Poetry> A day in adulthoodA day in adulthood
Now is the time when chains will be freed;
Now is the time when I shall sow my seed;
I have spent long in shadows of care,
Now shall I, in my desire to fly, succeed.
Haven't I spent days longing to see the greener
pasture?
Haven't I stayed from what I could dare?
Oh! And you only said my day will come once;
Haven't I cried for freedom, laid my heart bare?
Yes, the day has come; there's Robinhood
The mighty horse, the arrow and the loot;
Oh! How have I wanted to be there, among them- free!
How sweet is this day when has come my Adulthood!

COMMENTS :
Every one feels
elated at times. The reason of this elation could be many. For a
child, not yet capable to fend for itself, the reason could be a
thought of this independence. It is a fantasy of every child to
think of itself as an adult- doing all those things which now seem
so romantic to it, especially those cherishable forbidden things,
like going to a movie. This poem is an expression of such a moment
of elation, a ‘spontaneous outburst of powerful feelings’. Man
is born free but everywhere he is in chains.
